Peter Rider is currently New Zealand Ambassador to Germany. Born in the Far North of New Zealand - Kaitaia - he studied physics and philosophy at Auckland University before commencing a career in the foreign service. He has served in Bahrain, Riyadh, Geneva and New York; and was previously New Zealand Ambassador to Thailand.

Paula Morris is a fiction writer of English and Maori descent. Born in Auckland, she's studied and worked in a number of places - London, New York, New Orleans - and is currently Fiction Writer-in-Residence at the University of Sheffield in the UK. Her most recent novel, RANGATIRA, won the fiction categories of the 2012 New Zealand Post Book Awards and the Nga Kupu Ora Maori Book Awards, and was published in German in 2012 by Walde+Graf.

Since 1990, the English Theatre Berlin has hosted many international guests, either on stage or in the audience. Now we want a special few on the stage. As part of the 20th Anniversary Season, the English Theatre Berlin launched a series of readings where celebrities from English-speaking countries living and working in Berlin read from their favourite authors' works.

The series opened on October 31st 2010 with two of English Theatre Berlin's oldest friends, American entertainer Gayle Tufts who had started her Berlin career at ETB in 1991 when it was still called Friends of Italian Opera, and Chyntia Barcomi, star baker from Seattle who runs a very successful chain of coffee shops in Berlin.

Neuseeländische Literatur kommt vom Rand und erobert von dort die Welt mit Geschichten aus der reichen Historie dieser multikulturellen Gesellschaft mit ihrem tiefen Naturverständnis und einem ganz besonderen Verhältnis zum Sport..

Peter Rider und Paula Morris lesen aus dem breiten Kanon neuseeländischer Literatur von den Klassikern Katherine Mansfield, Witi Ihimaera, Bill Manhire, Elizabeth Knox, Maurice Gee, Lloyd Jones, James Belich, Patricia Grace bis zu den zeitgenössischen Stimmen der Maorikultur und der jungen asiatischen und pazifischen Literatur Neuseelands.

Peter Rider ist Botschafter Neuseelands in Berlin. Er stammt aus dem hohen Norden der Inselgruppe, studierte Physik und Philosophie an der Universität Auckland. Er war als Diplomat seines Landes in Bahrain, Saudi Arabien, Genf und New York und zuletzt Botschafter in Thailand.

Paula Morris stammt aus einer Familie mit Maori- und englischen Wurzeln. Sie studierte und arbeitet in London, New York und New Orleans und ist zur Zeit Fiction Writer-in-Residence der Universität Sheffield. Er letzter Roman Rangatira wurde mit mehreren neuseeländischen Literaturpreisen ausgezeichnet und erschien 2012 im Verlag Walde + Graf in deutscher Übersetzung.
